GX Group has a long history of supporting clients in their quest to develop their innovative ideas into commercial products; so when approached to sponsor a local Jujistu club they did not hesitate.
Budo Jujtsu Newport is a local martial arts dojo that teaches the art of self defence, helping to build self confidence and self esteem. As a result of a collaboration between Communities First, a Welsh Government community focused programme that supports the most disadvantaged people, Newport City Homes, Pill Regeneration and Budo Jujitsu, the local Newport club has thrown their doors open to offer free taster sessions. Over an eight week period, under the guidance of Sensei John Scandone and based on the teachings of Shihan Billy Doak, Goshin JuJitsu Wales, the club has been offering a number of martial art taster courses to local schools and communities.
To ensure everyone had a safe landing whilst learning this ancient martial art, GX kindly sponsored the new mats for the Budo Jujitsu Dojo.
Pictured on the new mats are Sensei John Scandone, managing director of GX Group Mark Helmich along with Uki Simon Sayle.
‘Working with Budo Jujtsu has given GX a great opportunity to have an active role within our local community,’ commented Claire Banks, Business Development Manager, ‘These eight week taster courses at Lliswerry High School and Maindee Community have proved a great success, seeing the confidence grow within the students is fantastic and the classes are great at encouraging the integration of ethnic minorities training together’
The pilot scheme has proved a great success with a number of students expressing an interest to pursue this martial art in their own time.
