Design Engineer

We are looking for a talented and versatile Designer to join our team at GX. This is a highly creative role, often covering the whole design process from initial concepts right through to DFM.

This position covers industries spanning life science, consumer products, automotive and more, so this role would suit someone who is adaptable and enthusiastic about working on products across a wide range of sectors/ industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a creative designer within the team, you must be able to present your ideas and develop them into functional prototypes and products.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Be comfortable diving into projects at varying stages of the design process.
  • Liaising with clients and presenting your ideas to them.
  • Liaising with supplier and manufacturers.
  • Client site visits (when applicable).

Essential Skills

  • A degree in Product/ Industrial Design.
  • Proficient with CAD packages, specifically Solidworks.
  • Visualisation skills - Keyshot experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as you will be working directly with clients, often creating presentations and discussing ideas directly.
  • Good practical skills required, including workshop experience and prototyping.
  • A strong understanding of design for manufacture.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within the team.
  • Organised and motivated with a positive approach to problem solving.

Field Service Engineer - Permanent

Are you a practical problem solver, looking for an interesting new role? 

On offer is a fantastic opportunity where you will carry out a mixture of service and repair work at our clients’ sites covering the south of England - Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent. There are opportunities for career progression as you can move into Senior Engineer, Technical Support and Project Manager roles.

This position would suit an engineer with electrical, mechanical and electronics experience, looking for a long-term career.

The Role

  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation applicable to the role. Adhering to safety guidelines set and all policies set out by customers and GX Group.
  • Carry out service & repair work on GX Environmental’s Waste Management Systems and associated instrumentation. 
  • Ensuring customer relationship are maintained and developed through high standards of service.
  • To use diagnostic tools and procedures and identify faults that can be communicated to the GX service team and customer.
  • Complete job activity electronically and ensure all required parts to complete outstanding tasks are ordered.
  • To compile Technical Reports in a timely manner and to a high standard on the completion of each job detailing the work undertaken and the reasons why.
  • Support other service and sales activities as directed. e.g. attending meetings with other department representatives, training and instructional demonstrations with the equipment’s end users. 

The Candidate

  • Proven Field Service or first line maintenance experience.
  • Appropriate qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar relevant qualification or demonstrable industry experience.

First Line Field Support Engineer

Part time: typically, 16 hrs/week with some flexibility

On offer is a fantastic opportunity where you will carry out a mixture of fault diagnosis and minor repair work at our clients’ sites covering the south of England - Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent or smaller area within. You will be assisted with full technical backup from our head office. There are opportunities for career progression as you can move into full time field service role if desired.

This position would suit an individual with a fault-finding background on instrumentation and at least a basic understanding and experience with low voltage equipment.
