GX’s latest recruit counts himself as a lucky man – not only has Gary Badham found a role at the innovative design engineering company that encompasses all the reasons he choose engineering, it has the bonus of being close to his home.
During his 25 year career, firstly as a draughtsman, then more latterly as a design engineer, Gary has on many occasions been a client of GX. When manufacturing good quality faders for local Welsh company Penny & Giles, Gary enlisted GX’s technical and design skills. He developed a design for a MIDI controller which would sit on a desktop but engaged GX’s expertise to give the product the right look and feel.
This collaboration with GX continued when Gary moved to ACCO Brands to work developing office products. As the development engineer overseeing the design of a projector, Gary once again sought advice from the design engineering team at GX to help make the exterior of the projector more dynamic and user friendly.
“Having successfully utilised GX’s talents on many occasions with other employers dating back to 1995, when the opportunity to join the design engineering team arose I grasped it with both hands,” affirms Gary. “Moving on from the large German polymer extrusion company I’d worked for the past nine years was a big step, but the timing was perfect both personally and professionally.”
In the short time since Gary joined the design team at GX his diverse skills have already been put to the test. As a keen problem solver he has helped to develop mechanical boot locks for an automotive client, as well as designs for both the wiper arms and washer systems.
Commenting upon Gary’s appointment, design director Gary Ross, “It’s been a pleasure to collaborate on projects with Gary over the past 20 years, and I am delighted that he has switched from being one of our client’s to become part of the team!”
