Despite the gloom of the pandemic and one of the coldest Januarys we at GX are starting to see hope. We may all still be locked down, but this new restricted way of living and working seems to have spawned some great ideas. We have enquires to design new products and from company’s looking to value engineer existing products to make them better.
To ensure that we can continue to turn these brilliant design ideas into commercial reality we’re looking to expand our mechanical engineering department. We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our small team.
At GX we have a multidisciplinary way of working that ensures continuity in product design. Our product design engineers work closely with our mechanical design engineers on product design engineering. Once the initial product design has been agreed, together they will develop the product, looking at the product experience, assessing the function and refining the design, before moving to prototype development when we will build a working model.
As part of our product development process it is our mechanical engineering team that will create these working prototypes allowing us to assess a product’s viability before committing the final design to 3D CAD drawings.
“Despite the uncertainties of 2020 we’ve started 2021 with a number of positive enquiries,” notes GX’s managing director, Mark Helmich.
“It seems that there is an appetite for product design and development, whether that be expanding product ranges or developing new products. To be able to control the entire aspect of product design engineering we like to have a team which includes design engineers working alongside specialists in mechanical engineering, electronic hardware design and also software design. This way we can control the product development and ensure the design we create is commercially viable.”
