Collaborations between the NHS and industry are helping thousands of patients throughout Wales. At the recent MediWales annual Innovation Awards held in Cardiff at the National Musuem, GX was amongst the sponsors to honour those for their outstanding achievements.
The award GX sponsored, the Award for Research Excellence in the NHS, was one by Hywel Dda UHB for their smoking cessation service. The health board provides vital healthcare services to communities based in rural communities across Pembrokeshire. In a bid to help stop cancer rates, the judges praised Hywel Dda for the positive impact their LungCAST study had on patients who wished to stop smoking following a cancer diagnosis.
Commenting upon the award, Claire Banks, GX’s business development manager said: “It is exactly this type of collaboration between industry and the NHS that embodies everything we do at GX; the more we can all work together towards the goal of better patient care the faster we will help fight the battle against life threatening diseases.”
