At GX we are used to solving complex and challenging problems – usually of a design engineering variety, so like many have been forced to adapt to new ways of working during this pandemic. Our design and engineering teams have been operational throughout this crisis – not only supporting our existing clients, but also playing a pivotal role in assisting our local community and beyond.
We have even completed several new projects, as well as continuing to provide support to helping water companies manage and monitor wastewater.
Helping to beat Covid-19
GX has been part of a Welsh government-funded joint initiative with the University of South Wales, developing test equipment for Covid-19 nasal swabs. We have specifically designed the product so that it can process six samples at once in a matter of minutes – not hours or days. Several test units have been built for further assessment prior to manufacture.
Following a request at the beginning of the lockdown, we were able to source and supply face visors for use in local South Wales hospitals and care homes, through our partner in China.
Finally, our design engineers are currently working on a new mask to help combat Covid-19 that reduces the risk of transmission by trapping and killing the virus.
Business as usual
As well as these important projects, we have continued to provide a full product design and development service, including mechanical engineering, industrial design, optronics, electronics, software and project management.
