Welsh based GX Group decided to take a positive step towards lessening their impact on the environment by implementing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System working with an ISO certification company, QMS.
Before companies can be awarded their certification, they must implement a four stage process including developing a manual for the company and adopting ways that the whole company can save energy, waste and water.
Commenting on the award, managing director Mark Helmich said; “As a design engineering group we deal with a huge variety of raw materials and felt that we wanted to lessen our environmental impact by adopting a companywide policy of environmental management. By conforming to the ISO 14001 guidelines we have developed a better system of disposing of any waste effectively plus looked at ways to save energy across the company.
“It’s been a good process to go through and I believe that the measures that we now have in place will also help us to improve efficiency and even in the long run help reduce our operating costs.”
