Launched just three months ago and designed by GX Design Engineers, a wooden bicycle maintenance stand, the Hooky, will be amongst big brands like Trek, Moda and Rocky Mountain exhibiting at the UK’s largest forthcoming Cycle Show at the NEC from 26-28 September. Consumers will be able to buy this simple product on stand J150.
Cycling has become big business; the number of people owning a bicycle continues to grow as does the mileage cycled in the UK which grew by 20 per cent in just 15 years to 5.1 billion kilometres. Entrepreneur, Harry Butterworth realised that this increase meant more people having to maintain and clean their bikes so approached Welsh based GX Group for their help to design a simple device to sit on top of a wheelie bin to allow essential bike maintenance.
“Working with entrepreneurs like Harry can be very rewarding”, notes GX Group’s managing director Mark Helmich. “Whilst we work with the research and development departments for large multinational medical companies we equally work with individuals helping them to bring their ideas to life. Frequently individuals spot a gap in the market and approach us with products to design that will enhance other’s lives, such as a heated seat cover or a device to dry out diving suits for example.”
