A patented mobile contactless customer loyalty reward mechanism.


The Challenge

GX was approached by digital marketing specialist, 2ergo, a provider of mobile-phone marketing and messaging services, to design a device that would allow customers to redeem targeted deals and loyalty rewards stored in an interactive wallet in their smart phone. 2ergo also wanted the device to capture analytics on customer transactions to help with future targeting.

The Solution

The product development team at GX took 2ergo’s concept and turned it into a commercial reality called podifi™. The extremely compact device was based on an ARM 9 processor running Linux, housed in bespoke plastic injection mouldings which GX's design engineers specifically devised for this project. 

All electronic hardware design and development for the podifi™. was completed on site by GX's mechanicl engineers. The team’s specialist knowledge included adding internal LEDs that change the colour of the product when it is operating in different modes and developing an easy ‘plug and go’ device for merchants to use. 

The Result

podifi™. has been adopted by a variety of retail outlets including O2 for their Priority Moments and Chelsea football club. The full potential of the device has yet to be realised since the way we shop continues to evolve. However, under 2ergo’s new owners, Eagle Eye Ltd, a leader in digital consumer engagement, there is the potential to incorporate future upgrades and features to the product design generated by GX.
