Mark Helmich

Chairman

MARK’S DEDICATION TO AND UNDERSTANDING OF DESIGN WAS RECOGNISED BY THE BRITISH INDUSTRIAL DESIGN ASSOCIATION (BIDA) WHO APPOINTED HIM AS THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR AND CHAIRMAN FOR WALES AND THE WEST.

Mark started his career by training to become a mechanical engineer. Having completed a four-year apprenticeship, he left industry to spend 14 years as a full-time lecturer, teaching computer aided engineering and product visualisation at a further education college. He was eventually persuaded to leave teaching and join GX and has stayed ever since.

He worked on a wide variety of projects as a mechanical engineer at GX before being invited to take on the role of managing director in 2007. Mark brought cohesion to the business by combining three separate divisions - product design, control system development and water resource management (GX Environmental) to create one international business. Now, as Chairman, he continues to oversee the business, helping ensure its long-term success.

A bit about Mark

Mark is a firm believer in sharing best practice, integrating engineering specialists from different disciplines to help innovate and create the best solutions. Coming from an engineering background he enjoys the challenges and rewards of seeing GX turn a client’s idea into a commercial reality.

He was appointed Regional Director and Chairman for the Wales and the West branch of the British Industrial Design Association (BIDA) in recognition of his dedication to and understanding of design.

Did you know?

When not involved in the world of product development Mark can be found either on the golf course perfecting his swing or researching his next culinary dish. A keen home chef he enjoys cooking for family and friends. He also makes the now legendary Mince Pies enjoyed by the team at GX over the festive period!
